How do I change the air filter on a BMW X3?

I noticed that my BMW X3 is not performing as well as it used to and I suspect that the air filter may be dirty. How do I change it? Is there anything specific I need to know about the process?

To change the air filter on a BMW X3, you will need a new air filter, a flat head screwdriver, and gloves. First, locate the air filter housing, which is usually near the engine. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws or clips that hold the housing cover in place. Carefully remove the old air filter and replace it with the new one, making sure it is properly aligned. Put the housing cover back and secure it with the screws or clips. It's a good idea to check and change your air filter every 12,000 miles or as recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer.
