How can I reset the oil change indicator in my BMW XM?

I recently changed the oil in my BMW XM, but the oil change indicator on the dashboard is still showing that the oil needs to be changed. How can I reset this indicator?

To reset the oil change indicator, turn your ignition key to the 'on' position without starting the engine. Press the button on the instrument cluster until the oil service or inspection item is displayed. Now, press and hold the button until a little clock appears in the display. You have now reset the oil change indicator.

Another way to reset the oil change indicator is to use the iDrive system. Go to the Service menu and select Vehicle Check. There, you will see an option to reset the oil change indicator. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset it successfully.
