To reset the on-board computer in your BMW X3, start by turning off the car's ignition. Press and hold the trip odometer reset button located on the instrument panel. While holding the button, turn the ignition on but do not start the car. Keep holding the button until the service light resets or you see a message indicating the computer has been reset. Then release the button and turn off the ignition.

Another method for resetting the on-board computer is to disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery for 15 minutes. This will clear any stored codes and reset the computer. Just remember to reset your clock and radio presets after reconnecting the battery.

If the above methods do not work, it may be necessary to take your BMW X3 to a certified mechanic or dealership for a full computer reset. This can be a more involved process that may require specialized equipment.
