How do I activate the Hands-Free Power Tailgate in my BMW X4?

I recently purchased a BMW X4 and noticed that it has a Hands-Free Power Tailgate feature. I read the manual but I am still having trouble activating it. Can someone please provide step-by-step instructions on how to activate this feature?
