How do I activate the parking brake in a BMW XM?

I just got a BMW XM and I'm not sure how to activate the parking brake. Can anyone give me some tips?

To activate the parking brake in a BMW XM, simply pull up on the lever located next to the driver's seat. Make sure you engage it fully until you hear a click for it to be properly engaged.
