How do I change the oil in a BMW M3?

I recently purchased a BMW M3 and I want to make sure I am properly maintaining it. How often should I change the oil and what type of oil should I use?

In order to properly maintain your BMW M3, it is recommended to change the oil every 8,000 miles or every 12 months. As for the type of oil, make sure to use a full synthetic oil with the viscosity recommended by BMW which is 5W-30.

I've had my BMW M3 for a few years now and I have found that changing the oil every 5,000 miles keeps the engine running smoothly. As for the type of oil, make sure to use a good quality synthetic 5W-40.
