How do I check my BMW 6 Series engine oil level?

I recently purchased a used BMW 6 Series and I want to make sure I am properly maintaining the engine. What is the best way to check the engine oil level and what should I do if it is low?

First, park your car on level ground and wait for the engine to cool down. Locate the engine oil dipstick, located near the oil cap. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth. Then reinsert it and pull it out again to check the oil level. If the level is below the minimum mark, add more oil until it reaches the correct level.

If you notice that your engine oil level is constantly low, it may be a sign of a leak. It's important to get this checked out by a mechanic to prevent any further damage to your engine.
