How do I check the oil level in my BMW 1 Series?

I'm not sure where the oil level indicator is located and how to properly check it in my BMW 1 Series. Any advice?

The oil level indicator is located on the dashboard, typically near the speedometer. It looks like an oil can icon with a drop of oil below it. Make sure the car is on a flat surface and the engine is not running before checking the oil level. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth. Then reinsert it and pull it out again to get an accurate reading. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick. If it is below the minimum mark, add more oil. Make sure to use the recommended oil type for your specific BMW 1 Series model.

I usually just take my car to the dealership for regular oil checks and maintenance. They have the proper tools and knowledge to ensure everything is running smoothly. It may cost a bit more, but it gives me peace of mind knowing that my car is being taken care of by professionals.

If you're comfortable doing your own oil checks, make sure to also check the oil filter and change it if necessary. It's recommended to replace the oil filter every time you change the oil. This will help prolong the life of your engine and keep it running smoothly.
