ReplyTo check the oil level on your BMW XM, start by parking the car on a level surface and turning off the engine. Open the hood and locate the oil dipstick, which is usually labeled with a bright yellow handle. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth. Then, reinsert the dipstick all the way back in and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick. If the level is below the minimum mark, you will need to add more oil.
