How do I enable Apple CarPlay in my BMW X3?

I recently purchased a BMW X3 and I want to start using Apple CarPlay. How do I enable it on my car?

To enable Apple CarPlay, you will need to make sure your car is equipped with the necessary hardware and then activate it in your iDrive system. First, check that your BMW X3 has the 'ConnectedDrive Services' option. If it does, go to the 'Communication' menu in iDrive, select 'Manage mobile devices', and then choose 'Connect new device'. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your iPhone to your car via Bluetooth. Once connected, Apple CarPlay will be activated automatically.
