First, check the parking brake cables to see if they are loose or damaged. If so, replace them with new ones. If the cables are fine, then the issue may lie with the parking brake shoes. Inspect them for wear and tear and replace if necessary. Also, make sure the parking brake lever is adjusted properly.

Another possible cause for your parking brake not working could be the brake pads are worn down and need to be changed. You can also try lubricating the parking brake mechanism to ensure it is moving smoothly. If these solutions do not work, it may be best to take your car to a mechanic for further inspection.

One thing to keep in mind is that the parking brake should not be used as a substitute for the regular brakes. It is meant to be used as an extra safety measure when parked on a slope. If your car still rolls when the parking brake is engaged, it is important to take care of the issue as soon as possible to avoid any accidents.
