How do I program keyless entry in the BMW X1?

I just purchased a BMW X1 and want to program keyless entry for added convenience. How can I do this?

First, locate the keyless entry button on your BMW X1 remote. It should be a small button with a picture of a car and a lock on it. Press and hold the button until the lights on your BMW X1 flash.

Next, get into your BMW X1 and close all doors. Insert the key in the ignition and turn it to position 1. Then remove it and press any button on the keyless entry remote.
