How do I reset my BMW 1 Series car computer?

I just purchased a used BMW 1 Series and I want to reset the computer. Can you provide me with step-by-step instructions?

To reset the computer on your BMW 1 Series, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for at least 5 minutes.
3. Reconnect the battery cable and start the engine.
Your car computer should now be reset.
