I have a BMW XM and recently the maintenance warning light came on. How can I reset it without having to take it to a dealership?
ReplyTo reset the maintenance warning, first make sure that your vehicle is in park and the engine is turned off. Then, press and hold the 'Menu' button on your steering wheel for a few seconds until the service menu appears on the dashboard. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to 'Reset', then press and hold the 'BC' button until the display shows a confirmation message. Release the button and the maintenance warning should be reset.
Another way to reset the maintenance warning is to use the iDrive system. Go to 'Vehicle Info' and then select 'Vehicle Status'. From there, you can select 'Service Required' and then choose 'Reset'. This will also reset the warning light.
If neither of these methods work, you may need to contact a BMW dealership or a certified mechanic for assistance. They can use their diagnostic tools to reset the warning light and make sure that your vehicle doesn't have any additional maintenance needs.
