I recently purchased a BMW XM and the oil change indicator has come on. How do I reset it?
ReplyResetting the oil change indicator is a simple process that you can do yourself. First, turn on your vehicle and make sure the odometer is showing the total mileage, not the trip mileage. Then, press and hold the ODO/trip button on the dashboard until the odometer display changes to the service indicator. Next, release the ODO button and then press and hold it again for a few seconds until the service light starts flashing. Finally, release the button and turn off your vehicle. The indicator should now be reset.
If the previous method doesn't work, try this one. Turn on your vehicle and make sure the odometer is on the total mileage. Then, press and hold the knob on the instrument panel until the word 'Reset' appears. Release the knob and then press it again momentarily. The oil change indicator should now be reset.
Another option is to use the iDrive system to reset the oil change indicator. Navigate to the 'Service' menu and select 'Service Requirements.' Then, select 'Reset' and confirm the reset. The indicator should now be reset.
