How do I reset the oil service light in a BMW 5 Series?

I recently got my oil change done in my BMW 5 Series, but the oil service light is still on. How do I reset it?

To reset the oil service light, turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Press and hold the trip odometer reset button, then turn the key to the off position while still holding the button. Release the button and turn the key back to the on position. The oil service light should now be reset.

Another way to reset the oil service light is to disconnect the negative terminal from your car battery for a few minutes. This will reset the computer and turn off the light.
