I recently changed the oil on my BMW 5 Series and the oil service light is still on. How do I reset it?
ReplyTo reset the oil service light on your BMW 5 Series, you will need to follow these steps: 1. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to position ON without starting the engine. 2. Press and hold the ODO/TRIP button located on the left side of the instrument cluster. 3. While holding the button, turn the key to position OFF. 4. Release the button and turn the key to ON again. 5. Wait for the display to show 'RESET' or 'Oil Service'. 6. Press and hold the ODO/TRIP button again until the 'RESET' message appears on the display. 7. Release the button and press it again to confirm the reset. The oil service light should now be reset.
Another way to reset the oil service light on your BMW 5 Series is to use a diagnostic tool like Carly or INPA. These tools can also help you diagnose any other issues with your vehicle. Make sure to follow the instructions provided by the diagnostic tool carefully.
If you are not comfortable resetting the oil service light on your own, you can also take your vehicle to a certified mechanic or BMW dealership. They will have the necessary tools and knowledge to reset the light for you.
