How do I reset the onboard computer in my BMW X5?

I recently purchased a used BMW X5 and I noticed that the onboard computer still has the previous owner's settings. How can I reset the onboard computer to clear all the previous settings and start fresh?

To reset the onboard computer in your BMW X5, you will need to locate the OBD II port. It is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. Once you have located the port, use a diagnostic tool or scanner to access the different modules in your car's computer and reset them to factory settings. If you do not have a diagnostic tool, you can also disconnect the negative terminal of your car's battery for a few minutes to reset the computer.

I had the same issue when I bought my BMW X5. The easiest way to reset the onboard computer is by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. However, keep in mind that by doing this, you will also reset the clock and other settings in your car, so make sure to write them down beforehand. Once you reconnect the battery, the computer will reset and you will have a clean slate to start with.
