I noticed that the service indicator on my BMW X4 is indicating that the service is due soon. Is there a way to reset it without going to the dealership?
ReplyYes, there is a way to reset the service indicator yourself without going to the dealership. First, make sure your car is switched off and the driver's door is closed. Next, press and hold the Trip Reset button on your instrument cluster and then switch the ignition on (do not start the car). Continue to hold the Trip Reset button until 'Service' or 'Inspection' appears on your display. Release the button and then press and hold it again until the clock in the display begins to flash. Use the Trip Reset button to set the clock to the current time. Once the display shows the correct time, press and hold the button again until you hear a beep. This should reset your service indicator. If it doesn't work, try repeating the steps or consult your owner's manual.
As an additional note, it is recommended to reset the service indicator after each service to ensure accurate maintenance measures are performed at the correct intervals. Not resetting the indicator can also cause excessive wear and tear on your vehicle's engine and components.
