How do I reset the service light on a BMW 5 Series?

I've recently serviced my BMW 5 Series but the service light is still on. How can I reset it without going to the dealership?

First, make sure all the doors are closed. Then, hold down the trip odometer button and turn on the ignition. Keep holding the button until the service light begins to flash. Release the button and press it again for 5 seconds. The service light should now be reset, indicating that the service interval has been updated.

If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes. Reconnect it and start the car. The service light should be reset. If not, consult your owner's manual for other reset methods.
