How often should the brake pads be replaced in a BMW 6 Series?

I've noticed that my BMW 6 Series has been making a squeaking noise whenever I brake. It has been a few years since I last replaced the brake pads. Is it time for a replacement?

Brake pads should be replaced every 50,000 miles or when they reach a thickness of 3mm. Since it has been a few years since your last replacement, it is definitely time for a new set.
