I can't seem to figure out how to reset the oil service light on my BMW 5 Series. Can anyone provide some guidance or tips on how to do it?
ReplyYou can reset the oil service light by following these steps: 1. Turn the ignition to the on position (without starting the car). 2. Press and hold the trip odometer reset button. 3. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the clock adjustment button until 'reset' appears on the trip odometer. 4. Release both buttons and then press and hold the clock adjustment button until 'reset' starts to blink. 5. Release the button and then press again to confirm the reset. This should reset the oil service light. Hope this helps!
I had the same issue with my BMW 5 Series and found that using the iDrive system to reset the oil service light was much easier. Just go to 'Vehicle Status' and 'Maintenance' in the menu and then select 'Reset service requirements'. Follow the prompts and the light should turn off. Give it a try!
Another way to reset the oil service light is by using a diagnostic scanner tool. Some shops or dealerships may be able to do this for you or you can purchase one online. If you plan on performing maintenance on your own BMW, it may be worth investing in one. Hope this helps!
