How to reset the service light on a BMW X1?

I recently got my BMW X1 serviced at a different mechanic and now the service light won't go off. How can I reset it myself?

To reset the service light on a BMW X1, you will need to follow a few simple steps. First, locate the 'BC' button on your dashboard, it's typically located on the turn signal stalk. Press and hold the button for about 5 seconds until the service menu appears.
