I recently purchased a used BMW Z4 and the power top seems to be malfunctioning. It gets stuck halfway through the opening and closing process. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?
ReplyHi Mia, sorry to hear about the trouble with your power top. It sounds like there could be a couple of potential causes for this issue. First, check the hydraulic fluid level and make sure it is topped off. If it is low, that could be causing the malfunction. Another possible cause could be a faulty motor or sensor. If the fluid level is fine, I recommend taking it to a certified BMW mechanic to have it diagnosed and repaired. Good luck!
Hey Mia, have you checked the fuse for the power top? If it is blown, that could be the reason it is getting stuck halfway. That would be an easy and inexpensive fix. If the fuse is fine, it could be a problem with the wiring or a faulty switch. Again, I suggest taking it to a BMW mechanic to have it properly diagnosed and repaired.
Hi Mia, I had a similar issue with my BMW Z4 power top. It turned out to be a problem with the convertible top module. I had to get it replaced and that fixed the issue. I recommend taking it to a certified BMW specialist to have it properly diagnosed and repaired.
