How to troubleshoot a rough idle on a BMW XM?

I've been experiencing a rough idle on my BMW XM and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to fix it. The car runs smoothly when I'm driving, but when I come to a stop the engine starts to shake. I've tried replacing the spark plugs and cleaning the throttle body, but the issue still persists. Any suggestions on what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Hi Samantha, a rough idle can be caused by a variety of issues such as a faulty oxygen sensor, dirty fuel injectors, or a clogged air filter. I would recommend getting a diagnostic test done at a trusty mechanic or dealership to pinpoint the exact issue. They will also be able to give you a personalized and accurate solution. Best of luck!

Hey Samantha, I had a similar issue with my BMW XM and after some research, I found out that it could be a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. It can get dirty or damaged over time and affect the air-fuel ratio, leading to a rough idle. Try cleaning or replacing the MAF sensor and see if that helps.

Hi Samantha, I own a BMW XM as well and have faced a rough idle issue in the past. I would suggest checking the vacuum lines for any leaks or obstructions. A small leak in the vacuum system can cause big problems with idling and overall engine performance.
