It is important to check the coolant level and make sure it is at the recommended level. Low coolant can cause the engine to overheat. If the coolant level is low, fill it up and check for any leaks. Also, check the radiator fan to make sure it is functioning properly.

Another possible cause of engine overheat in a BMW 5 Series could be a faulty water pump. If the water pump is not circulating coolant properly, it can lead to overheating. It is recommended to have the water pump checked and replaced if needed.

A stuck thermostat can also cause the engine to overheat. The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant to the engine and if it gets stuck, it can prevent proper cooling. It is advisable to have the thermostat checked and replaced if necessary.
