Is it necessary to change the oil in my BMW 1 Series every 10,000 miles?

I have been told by some mechanics that I should change the oil in my BMW 1 Series every 10,000 miles, while others say it only needs to be changed every 15,000 miles. What is the best recommendation for my car?
