Is it normal for the BMW 5 Series to have a rough idling issue at around 800 RPM?

I recently bought a BMW 5 Series and I've noticed that when I start the car, the idle RPM fluctuates between 750-850 for a minute or two before stabilizing. Is this a common issue with BMW 5 Series or should I have it checked by a mechanic?

Yes, it's normal for the BMW 5 Series to experience rough idling at around 800 RPM, especially during cold starts. This is due to the car's computer adjusting the fuel mixture to warm up the engine.

I had the same issue with my BMW 5 Series and it turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor. I recommend getting it checked by a mechanic to be on the safe side.

No, it's not normal and could be a sign of a bigger issue. I suggest taking it to the dealership for a diagnostic test.
