Is the BMW X1's front-wheel drive system suitable for winter driving?

I live in an area with harsh winters and I'm considering purchasing a BMW X1. I've heard that it has a front-wheel drive system rather than all-wheel drive. Can it handle snowy and icy road conditions? Is it worth getting the xDrive option for better handling?

Hi Samantha, while the BMW X1 does come standard with front-wheel drive, it also offers the option for xDrive all-wheel drive. If you live in an area with harsh winters, I would highly recommend upgrading to the xDrive for better handling and more control on snowy and icy roads.

Hi Samantha, I have owned a BMW X1 with front-wheel drive for a few years now and have never had an issue with winter driving. As long as you have good winter tires and know how to handle your vehicle in winter conditions, you should be fine without the xDrive option.
