What causes overheating in the BMW M1 engine?

I recently purchased a BMW M1 and noticed that the engine tends to overheat quickly. I've had it checked multiple times and there doesn't seem to be any issue with the cooling system. What could be causing this problem?

The most common cause of overheating in the BMW M1 engine is a faulty thermostat. It is responsible for regulating the flow of coolant and if it's not functioning properly, the engine will overheat.
