What causes the range-extender to not activate in my BMW i3?

I recently purchased a BMW i3 with the range extender option. However, I have noticed that the range extender does not activate when my battery reaches a low level. I thought the point of the range extender was to provide additional range when needed. What could be causing this issue?

Hi Samantha, there are a few possible reasons why the range extender may not activate. One possibility is that your battery may not have reached a low enough level for the range extender to kick in. Another possibility is that the range extender may not be properly connected or functioning. I would recommend bringing your car to a BMW dealership for a diagnostic check to determine the exact cause of the issue.

Samantha, it is important to note that the range extender in the BMW i3 is only meant as a backup to the electric battery. It is designed to activate when the battery reaches a critically low level, and should not be relied upon as the primary power source. If you are consistently running into range issues, you may want to consider charging your car more frequently or investing in a larger battery capacity.

Hey Samantha, I have also had issues with my range extender not activating at the appropriate time. After some troubleshooting, I found that it was a software issue with the car. I would recommend updating your car's software to the latest version, as this may resolve the issue for you.
