I recently bought a used BMW 7 Series and during a long drive, the engine started to overheat. What could be the cause and what steps should I take to resolve this issue?
ReplyFirst, check the coolant levels and make sure they are at the recommended level. If the levels are low, top it up with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water.
If the coolant levels are fine, it could be an issue with the radiator or the water pump. It's always best to take the car to a certified mechanic and have it diagnosed and repaired.
In the meantime, you can try driving with your heater on high as it will help release some heat from the engine. Also, make sure to keep an eye on the temperature gauge and pull over if it continues to rise.
