What is BMW's Night Vision system and how does it work?

I've heard about BMW's Night Vision system but I'm not sure how it works. Can someone explain the technology behind it? Is it worth getting in the 7 Series?

The Night Vision system in BMW's 7 Series uses infrared technology to detect heat signatures from objects and people outside of the car. It then displays this information on the car's dashboard, allowing you to see objects that may not be visible with just your headlights.

I've found the Night Vision system to be extremely helpful, especially when driving at night in areas with poor lighting. It's definitely worth considering if you often drive in these conditions.
