What is the difference between the BMW M1 and the BMW 1 Series M?

I've been contemplating between getting a BMW M1 or a BMW 1 Series M. Can someone explain the technical differences between the two models?

The BMW M1 is a classic sports car that was produced in the late 1970s. It has a mid-engine layout and was designed for racing, while the BMW 1 Series M is a more modern sports car that was produced in the 2010s. It has a front-engine layout and was designed for everyday road use.

The BMW M1 has a naturally aspirated engine, while the BMW 1 Series M has a twin-turbocharged engine. This means that the BMW 1 Series M has more power and torque, but the BMW M1 has a purer driving experience.

If you're looking for a rare and collectible car, the BMW M1 would be a better choice. Only 453 were ever produced compared to over 6,000 BMW 1 Series M's. However, if you want a more practical and modern sports car, the BMW 1 Series M would be a better option.
