The main difference between the two models is the drivetrain. The sDrive40i is rear-wheel drive, while the xDrive40i is all-wheel drive. Therefore, the xDrive40i will offer better traction and control in inclement weather or off-road situations.

Another difference is in fuel efficiency. The sDrive40i has a slightly higher MPG rating due to its lighter weight and rear-wheel drive setup. However, the difference is minimal and you may not notice it in everyday driving.

Personally, I would recommend the xDrive40i model for its added traction and versatility. Unless you live in a warm climate or only plan on driving on paved roads, the all-wheel drive option is worth the extra cost.
