What is the most common issue with the BMW X4's automatic start-stop system?

I recently purchased a BMW X4 and have noticed that the automatic start-stop system is not functioning properly. The engine does not turn off when I come to a stop, causing extra fuel consumption. Is there a simple fix for this issue?
