I have a BMW certified mechanic and the owner of BMW Repair Shop, and we only use Castrol Edge synthetic oil in all of our customer's BMW M9s. It meets all the necessary specifications and is the best choice for your car.

I personally use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my own M9 and have had zero issues. Just make sure it meets the BMW Longlife rating and you'll be good to go.
