Why does my BMW 5 Series engine make a ticking noise?

I've noticed that my BMW 5 Series engine makes a ticking noise when I start it up. It seems to go away after a few minutes, but it's still a bit concerning. Is this something I should be worried about?

This is a common issue with BMW 5 Series engines and is typically caused by low oil levels. Make sure to always check your oil levels and top up if necessary.

It could also be due to a faulty valve or lifter. Have a mechanic take a look at it to properly diagnose and fix the issue.

I had a similar issue with my BMW 5 Series engine and it turned out to be a loose timing belt. Have it checked and tightened if needed.
