Why does my BMW 5 Series have a rough idle at start-up?

I have recently noticed that my BMW 5 Series has a rough idle at start-up, but it runs smoothly after a few minutes. Any idea what could be causing this issue?

A rough idle at start-up could be caused by a variety of issues, but the most common culprit is a dirty or faulty idle air control valve. This valve regulates the amount of air entering the engine when it is idle, and if it is clogged or malfunctioning, it can cause a rough idle. I would suggest getting this checked and cleaned or replaced if necessary.

Another potential cause of a rough idle at start-up could be a dirty fuel filter. If the fuel filter is clogged, it can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, causing it to idle roughly until it gets enough fuel. It may also cause the car to sputter or stall at high speeds. Consider getting the fuel filter replaced to see if it improves the idle.
