Why does my BMW 5 Series have a rough shift between 2nd and 3rd gear?

I've noticed that my BMW 5 Series tends to have a rough and jerky shift between 2nd and 3rd gear. Is there a specific reason for this and how can I fix it?

This could be due to a faulty transmission sensor. I would suggest getting it checked by a certified mechanic.
