Why does my BMW 5 Series have low engine power?

I've noticed a decrease in engine power recently in my BMW 5 Series and I'm not sure what could be causing it. The acceleration seems slower and I'm concerned about potential damage to the engine. What could be causing this issue?

One potential cause for low engine power is a clogged air filter. If the air filter is dirty or clogged, it can restrict the air flow to the engine and result in reduced power. Check your air filter and replace it if needed.

Another possibility for low engine power could be a problem with the fuel pump. If the fuel pump is failing, it may not be able to provide enough fuel for the engine to function at its optimal level. Consider getting your fuel pump checked by a mechanic.

In some cases, low engine power can be caused by a faulty oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor helps regulate the fuel-to-air ratio in the engine and a malfunctioning sensor can result in reduced power. Have a professional diagnose and replace the oxygen sensor if necessary.
