Why does my BMW M5 make a strange noise when I accelerate?

I've noticed that my BMW M5 makes a strange noise when I accelerate, almost like a whining sound. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your differential might be going bad. This is a common issue with the M5 and can cause strange noises when accelerating. I recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic or BMW dealership for a diagnostic and possibly getting the differential replaced if necessary.

Another possibility is that your serpentine belt is worn or misaligned. This can also cause strange noises when accelerating. If the noise is coming from the front of your engine, it's worth getting the belt checked and potentially replaced.

Before jumping to any conclusions, it's important to rule out any easy fixes. Check your engine oil levels and make sure they're topped up. Low oil levels can cause strange noises and also damage your engine if not addressed.
