I've noticed that sometimes when I start my BMW M6, it makes a loud screeching noise. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's quite alarming. Any idea what could be causing this?
ReplyIt sounds like your serpentine belt may be worn or loose. This can cause it to slip and make a screeching noise. I would recommend having it checked and possibly replaced to avoid any potential issues.
I had the same issue with my M6 and it turned out to be a faulty tensioner pulley. It's an easy fix, but definitely something you should have looked at sooner rather than later.
Another possibility could be a problem with the alternator. If it's not charging properly, it can cause the belt to slip and make a noise. You may want to have your charging system checked.
