Why does my BMW X3 engine make a ticking noise?

I recently noticed that my BMW X3's engine started making a ticking noise. It seems to be coming from the top of the engine. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The ticking noise could be due to low oil pressure. Check your oil level and make sure it is at the correct level.

It could also be caused by a faulty valve or lifter. It's best to take your car to a mechanic for an inspection and potential repairs.

Another possible cause is a loose timing belt or chain. This can be a serious issue and should be checked and fixed immediately to avoid further damage to your engine.
