Why does the BMW 6 Series emit a ticking noise while accelerating?

I recently purchased a BMW 6 Series and noticed a ticking noise while accelerating. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

I had the same issue with my BMW 6 Series and was worried at first too. However, after consulting with a mechanic, I found out that the noise is caused by the direct injection system and is completely normal.
