Why does the BMW Z4 experience turbo lag?

I've noticed that my BMW Z4 has a delay in acceleration when I hit the gas pedal. Is this normal and is there any way to improve it?

A

Turbo lag is common in turbocharged engines, especially in smaller ones like the one found in the BMW Z4. It is caused by the time it takes for the turbo to build up enough pressure to boost the engine's power. One way to improve it is by installing a performance chip or tuning the engine's computer to reduce the delay.

B

Many drivers who experience turbo lag in their BMW Z4 find that switching to a higher quality, higher octane fuel can significantly improve the issue. Try using premium fuel and see if you notice a difference.
