Why is my BMW 1 Series making a clicking sound when I turn the ignition?

I recently noticed that my BMW 1 Series is making a clicking sound whenever I turn the ignition. It only happens when the car has been sitting for a while, but not when I start it up multiple times in a row. Is this a common issue and should I be concerned?

The clicking sound you are hearing is most likely the starter motor struggling to engage with the flywheel. This is a common issue in BMW 1 Series cars and can be caused by a variety of factors such as a weak battery, worn out spark plugs or a faulty ignition switch. I would recommend getting your car checked by a mechanic to determine the exact cause and get it fixed before it becomes a bigger problem.
