Why is my BMW 2 Series producing a loud engine noise?

I've noticed that whenever I start my BMW 2 Series, there is a loud noise coming from the engine. It sounds like a knocking or rattling sound. What could be causing this issue and what should I do?

It is possible that your engine is experiencing a misfire, which can be caused by worn spark plugs or a faulty ignition coil. I would suggest taking your car to a mechanic to have it diagnosed and repaired.

Another potential cause could be low oil pressure or a lack of lubrication in the engine. Check your oil level and make sure it is at the recommended level. If it is low, top it off and see if the noise subsides.

It could also be a problem with the timing chain or belt. This can sometimes produce a loud rattling noise. Have a mechanic inspect the timing components and replace them if necessary.
