Why is my BMW 3 Series making a clicking noise when I start the engine?

I just recently bought a BMW 3 Series and I noticed that when I start the engine, there is a loud clicking noise coming from under the hood. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Can I fix it myself?

Hi Sophia, the clicking noise could be a sign of a worn starter motor or starter solenoid, which can be easily replaced. However, it's always best to have a professional mechanic inspect your car to diagnose and fix the issue properly.

Hi Sophia, another possible cause for the clicking noise could be a battery issue. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. If the problem persists, it's best to bring your car to a BMW dealership for a thorough inspection.
