Why is my BMW 3 Series making a strange knocking noise?

I just noticed that my BMW 3 Series is making a strange knocking noise when I accelerate. It seems to be coming from the engine area. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like you may have a problem with your engine's valves. I would recommend taking your car to a mechanic to have it checked out.
